What other options should I consider? I would like to spend less than $1000. RAM: 16GB LPDDR4x Screen: 13-inch QHD (2,880 x 1,920) touch Storage: 256GB SSD (PCIe, NVMe, M.2) Ports: 2 x Thunderbolt 4, combi audio jack, Surface Connect port Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6. I also want to start learning more about coding and data analysis programs too. My usage involves spreadsheets, Tableau, Microsoft Office, emails, Steam games, sports streams, social media, email, web browsing, and playing some games like LoL. The expandable storage is huge for my Surface Go so far. However, 16gb would be a nice way to future proof my next purchase for about 5 years. I was wondering if I should just taper my expectations and just settle for 8gb of RAM? I have 8gb on my Surface Go and on my MBP. Microsoft still sells the Surface Pro 7's Surface Pro Type Cover. However, the Laptop 3 and Pro 7 are quite expensive for those combos. For 749, the base model Surface Pro 7 comes equipped with an Intel Core i3 CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. Also, the i5 Surface Pro is no slouch either in terms of performance. Maybe buy the 8gb model, test everything out, if it works nicely keep it, if not, exchange it for the 16gb model plus 600 and taxes. I wanted to get something with 16gb of RAM and 256gb SSD. Just today, I got the i7 with 8gb of RAM, and it seems to be fine for whatever I through at it. For me, I was thinking that either a Surface or an ultrabook could be the most cost-effective way to replace my MBP. I am thinking about getting the Surface Pro or a Surface Laptop. Hi all, my MacBook Pro is aging to about 5 years soon.
